Abstract
Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) has become vulnerable to fun-seeking hackers, criminals and even state actors and terrorists. The measures to protect CIIs from cyber-related attacks are found inadequate because of the unique traits possessed by the critical information infrastructures. This work therefore, presents an architecture of attack structure for CII, analyses recent techniques for attack detection and prevention on CII. The work addressed the challenges being faced in securing CII and hence recommends approaches to prevent attacks on critical information infrastructure properly. It is, therefore believed that this work would assist the researchers in the field to develop better protection for CII.
