BLOCKCHAIN COLLABORATIVE INTEGRITY VERIFICATION CONSENSUS MECHANISM FOR AVOIDING REPUDIATION IN e-VOTING SYSTEM
ABSTRACT
Democracy is a form of governance that gives citizens the opportunity to choose their preferred leader through election. Dissatisfied politicians do turn to court to claim victory. Data captured in an e-voting system is used for forensic analysis to extract evidence for resolving election disputes. Therefore, it must be accurately captured and properly stored. This work proposed blockchain collaborative integrity verification consensus mechanism (CIVCM) for capturing and storing e-voting system data in blockchain. CIVCM was developed using hypothesis formulated based on Gestalt psychology principles of perception. It contains tools for verifying endorsers and their responses. CIVCM prototype was tested against an e-voting solution from literature called VMS based on CPU time utilisation, data mining speed, and suitability for securing e-vote. It recorded better CPU utilisation than VMS by 99.9%, faster by 63.3% in data mining, and securese-vote data better by 32% than similar solution it was tested with.
