Building Trust in the Smart Economy: Addressing Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Concerns

ABSTRACT:

The smart economy offers vast opportunities for innovation and growth, but also brings substantial challenges, in cybersecurity and data privacy. Cyber threats, such as unauthorized access and data breaches jeopardize system integrity, while concerns about data privacy rise with increased cyberattacks. This study investigated the gap between the potential provided by the smart economy and current technology trust levels. Using a survey-based approach, we explored user perceptions toward cybersecurity and data privacy in the smart economy. The goal was to gather insights for researchers and innovators to develop strategies addressing these concerns. Results emphasized the importance of addressing user perceptions and building trust through robust cybersecurity and responsible data practices to unlock the potentials of the smart economy. This would encourage broader acceptance and adoption of the smart economy model
