Deployment of Chatbot as a Tool in Combating Insecurity in Nigeria

Abstract

Nigeria have a huge population with diverse ethnical and religious groups, an ample territory with unguarded borders shared with neighbouring countries which gives insurgent a vast amount of space to carry out their terror acts. The continuous rise of insecurity in Nigeria claims many innocence lives and the destruction of properties of the citizens and the economics of the country, the government mostly rely on the use of security agency and intelligence response to combat the treat but it seems not enough. So many researches deployed the use of information technology to combat insecurity in the country but lack of communication and information sharing between the citizens and the security agency has causes chaos and casualty to both the citizens and the security agency, Although, chatbot is used in many fields, however, there is paucity of it usage in the area of information security hence, the study propose to deploy the use of chatbot as an information tool to combat the insecurity in Nigeria. The proposed chatbot can be achieved by using java and will be text-based entities that can provide vital information to the Nigerian security agency. In this paper, a virtual knowledge base bot will be developed. The future work of this paper will be advancement and deployment of chatbot with voice user interfaces, and embodied conversational entities.
