SECURING TEXTUAL AND MULTIMEDIA DATA USING CRYPTOGRAPHY AND STEGANOGRAPHY ALGORITHM: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

ABSTRACT

This study gives a survey of the research on cryptography and steganography techniques for data security during the previous six years, from 2016 to 2022. Several authors have contributed significantly to the field of information and communication security. Traditional data security techniques do not fulfill data protection requirements considering the proliferation of hacking tool and adopting encryption algorithms without additional safeguards may not secure the data. As a result of recent technical breakthroughs, researchers have begun to examine a more secure method of storing and transferring secret data. To secure important information, many approaches such as steganography and cryptography have been deployed. Cryptography and steganography play critical roles in information security. The primary goal of this research is to provide a comprehensive and systematic review of security models that use both cryptography and steganography in order to help researchers in their understanding of existing methodologies. During the research we discovered 90 publications throughout the search and filtering procedure. Following the filtering, 20 preliminary and relevant studies were discovered. Furthermore, we present an overview and summary of both cryptography algorithms and steganography approaches. Finally, the report identifies gaps and makes recommendations for further research.
