SMART IoT DRONE SYSTEMS FOR NEWS AND INTELLIGENCE GATHERING IN DIGITAL JOURNALISM
ABSTRACT
The adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) Drones in journalism had signalled a digital revolution that altered news reporting, intelligence gathering, and the management of journalistic information processing in accordance with disruptive technology paradigm shift, which epitomizes information communication technologies(ICTs) digital ascendancy. The ICTs embedment are steadily changing how information are gathered and disseminated across the society layers. But considering the inherent benefits of IoT Drones as demonstrated by their widespread application across numerous fields the potential for growth is substantial when used practically. Drones can record and transmit live video to ground-based base stations, which is more specifically useful in journalism. By entering locations that are too difficult or dangerous for human coverage, Drones can expand the scope of eyewitness storylines. A significant improvement in the ability of journalists to gather information is made possible by the employment of infrared cameras, sensors, and LED lights. Drones have the potential to take panoramic pictures of the impacted areas during earthquakes and floods. The local farming community can benefit from real-time data collected by farm Drones on the weather and crop growth. The contemporary digital society is likely to witness an increase in the number of Drones being deployed in the sky to gather news and other information as news organizations around the world begin to recognize the advantages of deploying Drones. In line with the spread of forensic modernity, the current study found that audiences that value the use of creative and interactive technology will perceive news media utilizing IoT Drones as more moral. In the analysis, a respectable percentage of respondents favored Drone use in journalism. The paper recommended that, the use of IoT Drone technology in objective and investigative journalism will solidify the digital forensics methodology and give a framework for approaches and advancements that should be considered when conducting such investigations.
