ABSTRACT:

Virtual Classroom teaching method has been considered by many as a good alternative to traditional teaching method more especially when people are constrained either by cost or distance to access quality education in a tradition teaching setting. In spite of the benefits associated with virtual classroom method of teaching, the major drawback is that it lacks the ability to address student’s sentiment on real-time, contrary to what is obtainable in traditional classroom environment. In response to that, this paper developed a model that, on real-time predicts and display for teacher’s visualization the student’s sentiment regarding the teaching method using Support Vector Machine (SVM). Among the four classification algorithms considered for the model SVM and Logistic Regression gave the best result. However Support Vector Machine was finally considered for the model because of its high reliability with respect to changing volume of data.
